Join our cutting edge team! We are the first and only Montessori Accredited public school in the nation for children ages 3-15!
All of our classrooms, age 3-15, are included in our Accredited School status through the American Montessori Society (AMS) and through AdvancED/SACS. We are committed to serving as a model public Montessori school to help fully implemented public Montessori education become a reality for more children across the nation.
Lakeland Montessori is expanding and adding classrooms! Our new elementary building will open in August 2018!
We currently have an opening for an Elementary assistant teacher for 2017-18. Here are more specifics on our assistant teacher positions:
We expect all assistant teachers to commit to the full school year in order to provide continuity and stability for our students and school community.
For candidates with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, the pay per hour matches the Polk County School district (PCSB)/Kelly Services permanent substitute pay rate, which is $12.00 per hour/$90 per day, $16,380 for the 182 days of the school year. For candidates without a Bachelor’s Degree, the pay per hour is based on the Polk County School district paraprofessional salary schedule.
Our assistants work 182 days per school year. The 2017-18 school year begins Monday, August 7, 2017 and ends Thursday, May 24, 2017. We follow the PCSB calendar for our many holidays and days off. You can see our specific school calendar here: http://lakelandmontessori.com/
parents/calendar/. The password to access is PINKTOWER.
All of our employees are given 10 paid days of leave, as outlined in our Management Handbook. The school expectation is that all classroom employees limit their leave time to no more than these 10 days during the school year in order to provide continuity and stability for our students and school community.
All of our employees are given $546.00 per month towards their health benefits after the waiting period. If you are a current PCSB employee, the waiting period is waived. If you have insurance elsewhere, the $546.00 can be used as cash reimbursement towards eligible health/dental expenses, co-pays, deductibles, etc. This is a very valuable benefit of over $6,000.00 per year in addition to employee pay.
All of our employees begin vesting towards our excellent retirement plan on day one of their full-time employment. Our contribution for last year was over 7% of employee pay!
Assistants that aren’t interns begin attending a Montessori online training for assistants before starting in the classroom. This training is completely online and is paid for in full by our school. This online training is for approximately 10 weeks, a few hours per week, through the Center for Guided Montessori Studies (http://www.guidedstudies.com/
Assistants that hold a Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to be considered for us to sponsor their full Montessori teacher certification and internship through any MACTE accredited Montessori training center. Information on a local training center is located here: http://www.guidedstudies.com/. Your MACTE Montessori certification will provide the opportunity for you to earn your Master’s Degree in Education.
If we approve an assistant’s request to serve as their Montessori teacher certification and internship site, we loan the tuition and fees for their MACTE Montessori certification and serve as a mentor school throughout the internship. The total amount of the loan is divided over 18 months and paid back from each monthly paycheck. Our assistants are not required to complete Montessori certification or an internship, it is an option they are able to choose if they wish to do so.
